Rear fender question 3 Months ago
So I know that if I had the time, $ and tools it could be done. I know that there's also overlays that could be put on also. I was wondering if anyone has widened a stock fender a few inches to accept a little wider rear tire?

I widened mine with a small bottle jack. I also ground the inner fender struts down flush (on the bottom at least) so there isn't a ridge. If you are careful and make sure the jack only presses on the subframe it will widen without bending or crinkling the fender. I was able to get a 200mm tire in there after all that.

follow-up comment: I did all that while fender was on the bike. Since then I realized how easy it is to remove the entire fender and subframe intact..so to do again I would remove it and then do the same bottle jack and grind.

Thanks for sharing that Ortho I had been also wondering the same thing. Then there's what to do with the passenger backrest after widening the fender.

Has anyone here put on an overlay fender? How difficult is it and does it have more room for at least a 180 tire?

Does anyone know how much of the rear fender gets cut to put a stretched one on?
