I met a guy with a 2004 Road Star and he was telling me how the PO
spent gobs of money tricking out the motor. We were at a bike shop and he was talking trash about Harleys and how souped up his bike was and Harleys could not keep up. He did not know how informed I was as per my knowledge of the Big Bore mod so I kept my mouth shut. I inspected his bike and it had a stock carb
, fuel pump, and nothing remotely modded. Stock air filter, AIS
still installed etc. etc.
I was running my stock 2006 with 31 tooth pulley as my only mod, so I wanted to compare his bike to mine. He Swore left right and center his motor was tricked out and let me take it for a blast. To say the least, my bike was peppier than his bike. Most likely due to the 31 th pulley on mine. Why he spouted so much BS to this day is beyond me. When i returned from the ride he was expecting me to be super impressed with the bikes performance. I told him i liked his bike and left it at that. I did appreciate him letting me ride his bike though. Maybe the guy he bought it from lied to him, I will never know the real story.
Sometimes people do not know any better not knowing Road Stars, others think you do not know Road Stars.
In the case of the advertisement who knows. My 2003 has a Big bore kit as I was given several boxes of engine parts, pistons etc, so I have evidence of the mod. Without the evidence and receipts, I would not have bought the bike. I guess it is buyer beware. I find it hard to think someone would intentionally deceive another person, but in reality, it happens. I am too trusting and think everyone has honor and truthfulness.
