any aftermarket seat theft concerns? 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago

My wife brought up an interesting point today. I was talking about various different rides and trips we can take once my ultimate seats come in, and one of my ideas was taking the bike out to six flags in arlington for the day.
She asked how easy it would be for someone to steal my new seats if we left the bike out in the parking lot all day and at first I thought, nah, wouldn't happen...too much work.
Then I got to thinking, with the exception of the driver seat which would be removed with the ignition key, how hard would it be to steal the passenger pad off of my backrest and to unscrew the passenger seat along with it(which would also have my driver backrest)?
All one would need is a right sized socket and wrench and it could be done rather quickly and they would have a few hundred dollars worth of untraceable seats.
Have any of yall had any of your bike parts stolen like this?

Lets see 2 iron poles 4 guys and a van and they could steal the whole bike just by running the poles under the bike or through the spokes fortunatly for us all the thieves in town want a harley .....if you are that worried about it just put the stock one on the passenger position I am sure your wife wont mind and let me know later and I will give you the phone number for a good divorce lawyer....Have fun ride safe and enjoy your trip....Coug

I haven't had my seat stolen but yes, I have had parts taken off mine ... mmirrors, chrome doodads, etc.
A guy in my parking area (right next to the building) at work had his HD 2 months after he started bringing it to work.

I have a customer who has a HD Softail. The Softail seats have three fasteners on the seat; theone on the rear and one on each side. Most Softail bikes that I see do not have the side fasteners used. I guess that the owners feel that the other Harleys just have the rear screw and are too lazy to fasten the sides. My customer stopped at a store and when he came out the seat and both mirrors were missing!
My own bike has a Mustang seat and the rear seat is fastened to the driver seat and outwardly it looks just like the Harleys. However, removing the rear screw won't get you much since the seat is still locked to the frame and you need the key to get it off.

The driver's seat has to come off first, so in any case, if they want the passenger seat, they've got to remove them all!
