Windshield size 5 Years, 7 Months ago
Hi,

I am in the market for a new silverado medium height windshield.

I found through Star accessories a standard medium and a wide medium.

Any reasons based on looks or performance to choose the standard width over the wide width?

I noticed that the standard medium is the one that comes stock on the silverado and is a lot more popular looking at reviews at cruisercutomizing web site. One commented that the wide windshield is more suitable for colder climates.

Thanks for any info to help me make this choice.

Mochastar

I have a standard width windshield on my 05 and I think these wider ones are new cause there not in my 04 catalogue
You are in CA and want a windshield for....?????
Any way the wider one blocks more bugs more rain and more dry hot air....
With the wide handle bars an extra 1.5 " on either side certainly would look fine
The wider windshield does what a windshield does.. only better
I sat on my bike and tried to imagine what it would look like
I think I would go for the wider one and dont be surprised if that becomes stock on future models

PS.. They are NEW and that is why you have no ratings YET or customer reviews YET and there are a lot of positive reviews for the older Silverado shield

If I had the choice when I bouht the bike I would have went with the wide. Simply because it does more of what I put the shield on for.

Give him time, it seems he has trouble "leaving it alone".

Pop Rivet and Musky,

Thanks for your feedback on windshield size. Withouth having one in front of me to contemplate its looks, feel, and wind dynamics, I would not be able to make an intelligent choice. Based on your comments, I went with the wide windshield as it should do more of what I wanted a windshield to do in the first place - protect me from the warm sunny california air. I drove a friends Kawi cruiser with a windshield and really liked it.

I appreciate your assistance.

Best Riding,
