Not that that is not plenty fast , but if I told you how fast I'd been on my 1700 with the same mods.......You'd be ill! If the bike is running good , it might be best to let sleeping dogs lie. But I will tell you this , 1600 Roadies are Very tolerant to being jetted wrong. They will run rich (or lean , for that matter) with little to no issue. If you ever feel like looking inside the carb for how it was set up , I'd be curious to know. But , if it runs to your satisfaction , and you are not comfortable with carb work , just leave it as be. I do have one more question that affects power.........what altitude to you live at? The higher the altitude , the less power , thus less top end. Just curious. However, as you decrease the size of the front pulley you increase the revs at a given speed (decreasing your max top speed) but decrease the time that it takes to 'get there'. The 1600's should have come stock with the 31t Pulley. I beg to differ. I find the 32 a good compromise between off the line quickness and highway buzz. The 31 is certainly faster off the line but it introduces a buzz at highway speed which I don't like. The 33 is very smooth on the highway (also good for gas misers ) but doesn't produce that 'smile' when taking off. So in the end ... it's what suits you riding style. DocDoc do you think a 32 front would give me more top end speed as well as the same type take off I have now or even better? All my other cruisers with the exception of my HD were shaft drive so the belt and tooth game is all new to me. Thanks! For example, at 5000 rpm if your top speed was 100 mph with the 33 tooth, it would be 95 with the 32 and 90 with the 31. So the 32 will give you a lower top end (but I doubt you'd miss it ) but better take of from the light. If you do mostly city driving and like to be first at the next light, go with the 31. If you do a lot of highway, stick with the 33. IMHO, the 32 is a good combo. I've never taken min past 95 mph so I can't help you with the maximum that the bike will go. The overall pull you get in real world riding (not the 100+ crowd) is so much better , you won't care about top speed. But , with your altitude being at or around sea level , it really should do better than 104. It was probably not jetted the best. Do what you feel is best. We're here to help.
