Not too easy to access. They're kinda deep in there. I use a plug socket with a rubber sleeve for removal/insertion. See "Roadstar tank removal" in the tech section.

You can change the plugs without taking the tank off. Take the bolt out of the end of the tank by the seat. You'll have to take the seat off to get to it. Then pick up the the back of the tank and wiggle it back a little. You won't have tons of room but enough to get to the plugs.

roadstar_rider For Tank removal you remove 3 screws from the dash. Remone the seat and remove the cross bolt from the tank rear. Unclip the green plug at the rear of the tank for the fuel sensor. Hold the dash up and remove the tank vent line at the front of the tank under the dash. Take a bath towel and put it on the bars and lay the dash on the towel don't worry about undoing the wiring plugs going to the dash they will drive ya nuts. Last make SURE the gas petcock is turned OFF. Remove the fuel line from the petcock. Grasp the tank at the front by the neck and the rear lift the rear up and slide the tank back and off. Reverse eveything to put it back togeather. You do it enought you can get real fast at it.

And faster then a nascar pit crew

And you need to use compressed air to blow any debree around the plugs outand squirt a little DW-40on the threads before removeing them. Use anti-seize on the threads when you replace them.

in lifting or removing tank...watch ya dont lose the two rubber damper washers that go between the tank mounting tab and the frame...on that rear bolt..one on each side ....check that they are there when ya put the tank back on ...or ya may get a rattle
sometimes they stay put and some times they go for a roll....

the two steel washers and the acorn nut ...can also decide to take a trip..

It's one of those operations you really want to learn to do, and as has already been said, after a few times, it's really not a problem.

For the first time, you might want to print out the directions and make sure you follow all the steps.

Curt's post had them all... didn't it? I think it did.
