Well, it’s been reaching 100 lately and I have to say, it’s no problem for this air cooled Road Star. It runs down the interstate just like it does when its 75.

I’ve been commuting on this bike and am convinced it’s just a real work horse!

That's because it's a red one ! red bikes work harder and run faster.. but hey all roadstars are Tuff.

Mine hates high heat, its fine when moving, but come to a stop and you can hear every moving part in the motor. Not to mention the heat coming off the engine will cook you. Just part of an air cooled V twin.

You're right about the heat, especially when sitting in traffic. I saw a segment of Americn Thunder tricking out a Street Glide that put a "Saddle Shield" or "Heat Shield" under the saddle. It had some wings on it that came out a bit and was supposed to help disipate the heat from the engine. Found one vendor on line, but they were no applications for metric, just HD. I also saw a small dc fan that hooked to the engine that was about the size of a cumputer fan claiming to help the engine stay cooler especially in stopped traffic. That too was advertized for HD only but would probably fit a metric application.

We've had a cool summer here with lots of rain .... hasn't been so green here in a long time.

I'm off this week and it's rained every day on and off + lightening. Same old for the next two days.

I have made my own saddleshields. I put them on this week. this weekend I will be riding about 500 miles so I will see if they really help. I made mine out of lexan. Since Kuryakn does not make them for our bikes I decided to make my own.

The R* runs very cool for an aircooled V-twin...

The cyl linings being ceramic coated and extra large cooling fins...help a lot..and of course the large oil pool ..tranny/ clutch and engine crankcase..separate oil tank etc

I remember cookin on the top of my Harley 1989 Classic...

I haven't experienced that kind of heat from the R* yet...

Cockpit heat is of course ... increased if ya have a dual exhaust crossover under yer crotch.. and upper and lower fairings..

That being said..The R* is a pleasant drive in the heat.. compared to other air cooled V-twins out there

And I remember my liquid cooled Honda 1100 Shadow ..when the fan kicked in ....like sittin in front of a Pizza Oven

.... and of course it always came on when you're waiting at red light.
