Trailer Hitch for 2006 R* Midnight Silverado 4 Months, 1 Week ago
I am having a problem finding hitch for my R*.
Can anyone reccomend one. I see that people have had problems with the hidden hitch making contact with the rear wheel, so I want to stay away from it.
Help JBRider

Hey JB,

I've attached an earlier post I made regarding trailer hitches. Hope this helps and welcome aboard!!

Spring Comparison... Which One??? 1 Month ago
ThuleMan,
Being the cheap SOB that I am, I made my own. I had been looking at about three different styles/designs, studying them, figuring out which would be the easiest to make, and this is the one I decided to copy;

http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/hitch-pages/yamaha.htm

Click on the link and scroll down to near the bottom of the page for pics, description and pricing. I modified mine slightly from this exact design, but it's essentially the same. Since I was in kind of a hurry to get mine completed, I didn't take any pics of it, but if you'd like I can take some and post them.

And to be honest, I can't take all the credit for making my hitch... I had quite a bit of help from a few co-workers with welding, fabricating and in general, just being there to lend a hand.

If making your own hitch isn't an option, and the $295 price tag is too steep (I know it is for me!!), here's an email address (and his reply to me) to another source.

gcourtem@shaw.ca

Hi Aaron, Yes I do manufacture trailer hitch for the RoadStar, the retail is $199.95 plus shipping (I would need your address in order to quote you on the shipping).

I included a copy of the cd-rom instructions so you could see the hitch and know how in mount on the bike.

Thanks, Gilbert
GC Manufacturing

Hope this helps and ride safe!!

In The Wind,
Aaron

install a Dauntless on my 06 worked fine except that you will need to find 2 longer sissy bar bracket bolts. be sure it is grade 5 or better preferably grade 8 automotive that is the origion type. You would think the company would supply but they dont. Hitch is good though.

Thanks man, I took a chance and ordered one today, it's good to know that it will work. I have Cobra Speedster longs, do you think thay will clear the frame?
What did you get for the wiring?

JBRider I guess I'm too late but here is the hitch I have had now for 7 years.http://www.hitchdoc.com/hitches.html
As far as wiring goes it depends on your trailer. Both trailers I have owned came with the wiring harness. You will need a special one due to a four wire system.
