How many miles are our engines good for? (asuming regular oil changes)

From what I hear they should be good for 100,000 miles. My buddy has a 01 with 85,000....apart from oil, plugs etc the only thing he had to replace was the starter and it still sounds as good as my 05 with 7,000 miles.

One of the guys in our STAR group has over 84K on his 2004 and it runs like a top, a beautiful top at that.
