I'm considering purchasing a Mustang set with the driver's backrest, but wanted to get your feedback first. Is this the most comfortable seat?

It depends on so many variables, it is impossible to say.
I tried a Mustang on a VTX - no backrest for driver - and loved it. Got one for my Roadie wiht a backrest and hated it. Moved me too far forward. I am 6'1" tall. When I took the backrest off, I was able to move back far enough to make me comfy, but then the backrest mount tube dug in my ass. Had I gotten a non-backrest version I mayhave liked it.
Tried a Corbin Dual Tourer. Backrest ort not, did not like it .. was very hard to me.
Looked at the Ultimate seats ... they look very nice, but I think that the seating position will be similar to the Mustang and I just like to sit back farther.
Have a Looney BBDD with Gel pad arrving Tuesday .. hopefully that will do it.

Interested to see how you like the Looney BBDD. I have the same concerns you have had. Let me know, please.

Looney is installed ... had to lower my windshield because even with the gel pad I sit about 2 inches lower. It did not move me forward at all, and I may actually sit a bit farther back now ... sweet. I may decide I need pull back risers but I want more miles on the seat to be sure.
By far, for my butt, the best seat I have ever owned on any bike (including my old Venture Royale). With my boards sitting further up 3" and this seat, I am in a great position for the way I like to ride. The SS1000/BB1500 tests is the weekend of November 6th. We will really see then. It is firm, but it feels really good. I bought a seat for one of the guys in my shop at teh same time. He wanted a standard with no gel pad. I am REALLY glad I got what I did and I think Looney will be glad that my friend has decided he likes mine better as well adn will be buying another one.

Post edited by: CRASH, at: 2004/10/29 13:49

I'M 6'5 230 AND JUST PURCHASED THE ULTIMATE SEAT W/BACKREST. TOOK A 300 MILE RIDE THIS PAST WEEKEND AND IT WAS GREAT. I COULD NOT GET RID OF THE STOCK SEAT FAST ENOUGH. (ROADSTAR)

I have added the Mustang seat w/ drivers backrest to my O4 Silverado. It looks and feels great. Lower back pain is no longer a problem. Butt comfort is a lot better. I can manage almost double the seat time.
I do not like the fact that it moves your seated position forward, though. You will get used to it, but, I preferred the old position better.
It is a trade-off. I need the backrest, so I can live with it.

I'm glad to hear this. I'm having back pain also. I added Aeromach risers and it helps a little. I was afraid to spend the money if it wasn't going to work. But, it sounds like it's worth a try now. Thanks.
