I'm not so sure that it's not the "OH S**T" adrenalin rush that keeps us riding.

We all have 'em. You look up and think this is gonna hurt and your body gives you that shot of adrenalin to get you through it. 99% of the time you do get through it, but that rush is unlike anything else in life.

As safety minded as I am, I'd much rather have those moments when I'm pushing myself than when I've taken a mental break and suddenly wake up to find that I'm in the midst of doing something stupid...Any of this make sense?

Glad you made it through everything OK and that the bike suffered no long lasting damage. Always check ebay for the replacement parts and you might have enough left over for more goodies to bang up later!

We all have had these "rookie" moments for sure. I just add them to my experience file and keep driving, albiet a little smarter next time.

Glad it wasn't worse and the list of damages can all be replaced.

At least you're OK. I'm most afraid of something like that happening and being caught under the right side with hot pipes burning my leg.

Welcome to the 'Been' club

Mine has been down twice. The first time was in a gas station. My helmet fell on the ground and I leaned over to pick it up forgetting that the kickstand was up ... oops!!

The second time was definately my lesson learned! I pulled up next to a pickup truck that was turning right and I was turning left. I could not see past the pickup, but figured the coast was clear when he turned so I turned too ... and found myself headed right into the path of an oncoming car that was blocked from my view by the truck until that moment. I got on both brakes hard and stopped almost immediately, but since I was leaned over in a turn, I went right down. Two people stopped to make sure I was alright, which I really appreciated. Oddly enough the only damage was to the left floorboard and the left mirror, even though I don't have a crash bar.

I am glad you are all right and the crash bar worked!

I managed to christen mine last week. Lets just say i thought that the side stand was down but it wasnt. No real damage just a TINY scrap on the clutch lever and a TINY scuff on the rubber part of the shifter.

Rubyroo, Glad to hear that you're o.k.. Now, pitch the helmet and go buy a new one. Your head banging the asphalt did that one in. You don't want to be wearing that one if you have to rely on it again.

Hang it in the garage as a reminder of the day you broke in your new bike

Cowboys like us sure do have fun, racin the wind, chasin the sun. We\'ll take the long way around back to square one. Today we\'re just outlaws out on the run. There\'ll be no regrets, no worries and such, for cowboys like us.

Thanks. I did call them and while sympathetic they offered no deals. They confirmed that bending the piping back to square wasn't an option as that would simply weaken the metal. What can I say, the bar is definitely worth the money... I just hope I never have to buy a 3rd one!
