I gotta switch oil 4 Months ago
Hey Fellas,
I have always ran Mobil 1 synthetic from Wal-mart and the bike has ran awesome, but Walmart quit carrying the oil for whatever reason. They are about the only people in town that carry it. I know that every town is different as far as what oil is readily available, but what do ya'll think is a good substitute for Mobil 1 syn. and is pretty easy to find?
Thanks for the help,
JM

I second the Auto Zone comment. That's the only place I've EVER seen it where I'm at (in the V-Twin variety that is)..

I've been using 20-50 with no problems at all. In fact I didn't even know that Mobil 1 made a 20-40...lol.
I get my oil from Auto Zone, not even my local Yamaha shop carries it even though they are an authorized dealer. They want me to buy that Yamaha oil...lol.
You can do a google search for Mobil 1, on their page they have a find dealers by zip code. Call everyone on the page and see who has it.
That's what I did.

Yami called for 20/40 because they were the only ones that made a 20/40. Everyone else was 20/50. They have since starting with their own 20/50. I think they figured out they couldn't force people to use their oil by recommending their proprietary 20/40. Wasn't very good oil anyway. So now they're just trying to get a share of the oil sales. My op anywho.

Rotella T. 1 gal is about $10 at Wal-mart. Been used for years in HD's with no problems. My friends that are petroleum engineers also tell me that its a perfect choice. (according to him, everything else is marketing hype)

My local AutoZone carries a full line of Mobil 1 products. I use AmsOil 20/50. My Yami dealer actually stocks it .50 per quart cheaper than the Mobil. If you're having problems finding what you like, ask a store manager if they'll consider stocking it. If it's not too odd of a request, you might be surprised at their willingness. the ACE harware up the street never had Seafoam until I asked for it. Now they always have it in stock. It's worth a try.
