Roadstar Roadtrip 4 Months ago
|
|
Wifey and I just pulled a 4600 mile trip from Colorado to KS, OK, AR, TN, MS, AL, FL, GA, back thru TN, KY, IN, IL, MO, back thru KS and home to northern CO. The bike ran awesome. The only complaint is the seats. Think this winter I will rebuild them. But again, when you pull some high mile days like we did ( like 2400 miles in 3 days to get there) I dont know if anything is really gonna do the trick. But Im still gonna redo the seats.

Check your personal messages VikingWarhorse
I really prefer the Corbin's for long riding. Firm but comfortable. If you rebuild yours, think about writing a 'how to' article for the clinic with what you did.

Relates to reshaping a crotch rocket seat but there's a lot of valuable info there for the DIY'er.
Thanks,

Great link. Very informative. One of these days, I'd like to get a cheap stocker off of eBay and start playing with it.

all of that with stock seats?! I wouldn't be able to make it past 300 miles in one day without having to start stopping every 70 miles or so to get the blood flowing back to my behind.
But that's one heck of a road trip!
Do you have any kind of communications system set up?

Ok I will try to answer all them questions for ya.
Milage: Riding 2 up, fully loaded and Hwy speeds we averaged about 45 mpg., give or take due to various things like crosswinds and whatnot. NOt too bad.
Yes we rode 2 up and wifey was ok with the pad....sort of. We all know that the stock seats leave something to be desired.
As far as a communications system. Me and wifey have been riding together for years. we have a set of hand signals that we use when the yelling in my ear doesnt get it done LMAO.
