Re:Light bar real junk 2 Weeks ago
After spending the good part of today looking for a passing lamp that is one piece no welds I found two. One went out, no longer making parts. The other is not for roadstars. I figure one with no welds has to be stronger. Does anyone no of a bar that has know welds? Or does anyone recommend one that can stand up to long riding at high speeds. I am tired of problems with the light bar. Your advice is appreciated.

Ron

Re:Light bar real junk 2 Weeks ago
I just got off the phone with Cobra. I asked them if the light bar will work with the silverado windshield he did not think so, being he had tried it with a honda and Memphis shade and some other bike with a shield but never with a yamaha shield. Does anyone have the Cobra light bar with the silverado package and does it fit without any modifications?

Thanks for the help
Rom

You already have the Yami bar. If it's still functional just have it welded up right. You know it fits and it will be a lot cheaper than a new bar.

Just a thought.

You guys got me thinking so I went out and inspected my light bar. Sure enuf, left side mount was cracked almost all the way around the weld. Gonna start dealin' with Yamaha again today....this is gettin' old.

Just in case...where's the best place to look for a welder to fix this bar?
Wondering if the bar from a Heritage Harley could be rigged to work...I never had a problem with those?

Obviously we have a quality control issue here...ya know..a bad welding job done on a Monday...yes... even machines have hangovers

I looked at the welds on my lightbar...they look robust and well done...but I think maybe the support for the round cross tube should cradle the underside and give a bigger weld joint...

You guys having problems... do the welds look weak...to begin with..?? or do you think it is a design issue???

I do like the Yamaha light bar and if the problem has been corrected maybe we shouldnt be too hasty in writing
it off

I like the looks of the Yami bar to Pop... The weld looks well done, like you say, maybe need a bigger area. Yamaha needs to do better quality control. As most of you know, Yami doesnt make these bars at a Yami shop, it's all sub contracted out. One might be from Bobs light bar factory, the next from Mitsubishi Motors...but all are supposed to be to Yami's specs. Yami needs a 'redesign' or start checking the work of thier suppliers a little closer. Well, going to call Yami HQ now...... Quick dial on my cell phone, button #1.
