Re:I gotta switch oil 3 Weeks, 4 Days ago
Thanks fellas,
I went to Auto Zone and they actually have it. Even though the Mobil website dosen't show them as dealers and when I called them they said they didn't carry it.About 8 something a quart but at least I found it. I am having a hard time finding magnetic drain plugs. I need 10mm x 1.5 correct?? The smallest anybody has is 12mmx1.5, and they have 14mmx1.5. Any suggestions?

Are you talking thread or head size? The head size of the ones people are getting is 14mm.

I just picked up two of the 14mm magnetic oil drain plugs at Pep Boys for $4.49 each. They had them at Auto Zone as well for about the same price.

I found some 14mmx1.5 magnetic bolts at Auto Zone for about 4 somethin a piece. They looked smaller diameter than the stock plugs, but they screwed in fine and tightened good. Also found the Mobil 1 synthetic and went to Walmart and got the supertech oil filter. Thanks for the help,
JM

Are you using the new version of Rotella T?

They changed formulas the end of last year. The new formula has less zinc, better for converters but not for cam & lifters... on cars anyway.

and you can bet the new formula has additives not wet clutch friendly... to compensate for the less zinc to meet API SL/SM standards..

I used Rotella synthetic for about 20K miles with no problems. Switched to Mobil 1 V-Twin Syn though at my last oil change. Starting to scare me what I was putting in my bike. The super tech filter though is dirt cheap at walmart.

Think I'll switch to the magnetic bolt. What size do I need? 14mm head, what thread and length? BTW, do you all change out your washers when you change your oil?

I've seen all the talk about changing over to these magnetic bolts. Can someone clue-in a relative noob as to why the change?

Thanks in advance,
KL
