Just read that I am going to have to drill a hole... Not a big problem. Anything you ran into specifically in drillng a hole in that location?

After you purchase a set of crash bars and then buy a set of highway pegs on them, you might as well go with the Lindby's for just a tad more $$$.
Here is a link to the same sight with a slightly differnt style for a little less money....Lindby's

While we are discussing the safety aspect of the crash bars

Although many buy them for looks and a place to put there feet..

Attachment to the frame especially the lower portion of the crash bar has peaked my interest...how well do I think they will hold up under crash conditions..remember The R* is a 800 lb plus bike
Here is what I have discovered

The bars that attach to the engine mounts...

The Yamaha big bar is attached to the M10 engine bolts but through a very thick 3/8 steel plate...one on each side.. and the bar ends are welded to this plate...

some brands there are two thinner plates welded to a one piece bar then fastened to the engine mounts...

some brands are attached to the floorbord mounts with thin 1/4 plates
two on each side and held together by a small bolt and nut...

Now although there are no crash comparison tests...

I do think that the method of attachment and guage of the bar material
play a major role in determining if the bar is for looks or for crash worthiness

Yeah, I wanted the Lindby, but it was not in the wallet at the time. I have the MC Enterprises. Mounts to the engine mount bolts at the bottom and U-Clamps to each of the uprights at the top. Hope I never need to find out how sturdy they are.

BTW, I've seen the Linby's retailed for about $270, and as always, I recommend checking eBay Motors when shopping for any accessory.

How hard are the lindby bars to install? I have been looking at them for a while and I just saw a few listings on ebay for around $217 = $15 shipping, seems like a good deal.
Thanks
Shawn
