What does the rectifier do (other than rectifying) 3 Years, 6 Months ago
Okay, so I got the AIS removal done. . But I had to put the rectifier back on. What exactly does the rectifier do. Is it possible to relocate it?? I bought some KURY highway pegs, the ones that mount on the frame, and the bracket for the rectifier is right in the way of where I want to mount them. Just wondering if you can move it or get rid of it altogether, which I doubt you can.

Second topic, I am not sure I like these highway pegs, as they are very close to the brake and shifter controls. I do not want to put crash bars on, so what options do I have for a highway peg. Just something to stretch the feet out on.

Ive found the forward controls to be quite comfortable. as far as extra pegs, BB had a hyway bar on his that was basicly just a straight bar going across the frame..
The rectifier has to be there, or somewhere in front of the engine so it doesn't get too hot, you'll notice it has cooling fins on it, it must be exposed to cool airflow or it will over heat and fail..

The alternator puts out alternating current, the rectifier changes AC to DC, the bike runs on direct current. The unit you are talking about is a combination rectifier/regulator. The regulator limits the voltagge to about 14. It can be moved by re-routing (maybe altering) the wireing harness for it.

Why don't you want crash bars? They are worth their weight in gold. I don't care how good a rider you are; some lame-brained idiot on the road can cause you to go down!

I just did the floorboard extensions yesterday, and am finding that the brake and shifter are hard to get to now, as I have to move my whole foot, with the angle. I guess I just need to experiment a little more.

you will probably get used to it, but anytime you change your riding position, it takes some getting use to..It's like a whole new bike..

Cobra makes a nice looking highway bar that goes strait across the frame like flashback mentioned. I have one on my bike.

I put on a set of Rivco Ultimate pegs and they work fine. They are really adjustable and very clean visually.

I've got a set of Rivco pegs for sale (mounts to frame). Looks like Papa Bear's. I went to an engine guard (bought from a friend for little cash). I didn't used to like the look of an engine guard but for as cheap as I got mine I do. If anyone is interested, send me a PM.
