I've been hit and stung a number of times but the most memorable ....

Riding down a country road ... about 50 mph ... when I rode through a 'cloud' of bees flying perpendicular to my direction of travel. Looked down and had number of them popping off my chest and arms. Lasted for what felt like ages but luckily didn't get stug.

There was an apiary nearby and the bees were flying to another field across the road.

Been riding bikes since I was in my teens and I've always heard stories like this but never had it happen to me. Out for a ride on the scooter this morning when I got blindsided by something. Caught a glimpse of something big and black coming at me in my peripheral vision - then 'BLAP'. Hit in the temple by some kind of bug. Felt a little sting but assumed it was just from the impact. But it kept getting worse so I reached up and rubbed the area with my left hand. POW! Something stung the heck out of my ring finger, just up under my fingernail. Felt like I'd been shot with a nail gun. Quickly got to the shoulder of the road and set a new world record for getting a helmet off. There was a bumble bee that had gotten wedged between me and the helmet - high and behind the cheek bone. Ouch. Well, two miles up the road to the local WalMart where I picked up some cortisone cream and Benadryl. Took a health dose (Do not operate power equipment if taking . . . ) and headed the Roadie back to the house. Now I'm doing the 2-finger typing thing because the ring finger is swollen and hurts like heck. Think I'll let the Benadryl work its magic and take a nap now.

Anyway, anybody else have any tales of bugs in the helmet, jacket, shirt, or up the pants leg? I gotta tell you - that was an experience I don't want to repeat.

Yea I had one hit me go inside my helment and proceeded to my ear canal where he stung me repeatedly till a Doc at an emergency room flushed him out with some water and a syringe and the nurse stomped him.. ..Coug

WOW, I bet you glad the nurse waited until the doctor got it out before she stomped him!

I know Donavan wrote "The Season of the Witch" But, maybe, we should re-title this thread the season of the "Itch"!
I was cruisin back to my friends house yesterday and my left "love handle" started to feel like someone had put a magnifying glass to it...(I was wearing a shirt...)
Seeing that I'm in Florida, my first instinct is to rub whatever is crawling around like I'm gonna squash it...
That was my second mistake...!
OUCH! stung, right in the side... and then WHAM! right in the middle finger...! Dang! A wasp! My misses started pulling off and shaking out my shirt, even before I got the bike stopped...! Then I heard her holler...
That little bugger got her right on the knee...!

Wow.. I guess I'm still a virgin. I've never not once had a bug do any damage to me. I did have one hit the headlight that was big enough to make it darker !

Lots of bird poo.

Did I mention how much I hate bees/wasps/hornets/yellowjackets, and how nervous I'm gonna be riding home tonight after reading all these stories?

When I was a kid, oh 16 or so, I was riding my "massive" 250 Honda Scrambler up the local canyon to meet my family for a picnic. Well while I was beating my butt numb I felt something hit my crotch. I was wearing cut offs by the way. Well when I got to the camp ground and sat down to eat the feeling slowly crept back into my thighs and low and behold I had a bee stinger just inches from my jewels.
