gunhead, glad you survived.sounds like you have off road riding exp. i raced motocross for 12 yrs.i feel it REALLY helped my riding skills. not how to go faster, but how to ride safer & how to react in situations like you just had. anyway, glad your still with us. :

I'm soon to be forty years old, and the last time I was on a motorcycle, was when I was fourteen years old, on a little Honda 50 trail mini. LOL! I didn't stall the bike, or anything. I think it was by the grace of God and quick reflexes. That's all. Thank you, though! I'm pretty happy about still being with us, myself!

I've got to share this one....
Abuddy who is a very experienced - used to be a 1%'er - was showing me around a resort area near to us. It was a beatiful day and the longest run I've had yet. He decided to show me the beach area and it was beautifull!

He was leading me but I stopped. As always I was in protecive gear; helmit, armour jacket, jeans, and boots. He was wearing no helmit, sandles, tshirt and shorts. I could see that ahead of us there were sea shells and allot of unpacked sand. Needless to say he went down did about $1k damage, had a serious, I mean serious burn to his calf from the pipes and scratched the bejezzus out of himself.

Stupid is as stupid does.

When I first got my bike, I was wearing shorts, and I was just jockeying the bike around in the driveway. My calf barely touched the exhaust, and it burned the dogcrap outta' me. No way will I ever throw a leg over a motorcycle without being in jeans and boots.

I'm one of those guy's who will occasionally wear shorts,t-shirt,and tennis shoes to just go "uptown". That is when most of the accidents occur. Yesterday I rode 25 miles to see my cousin wearing mesh jacket, draggin' jeans and boots. You guys are right, better to be hot than road rashed!
