Remove the emblems, did it on my hot rods all the time. Pick at the corner with your finger nails enough to insert a flat scraper and keep it on the emblem side as you bend and pull the emblems away from the tank leaving most of the double sided tape on the tank side.A little goo be gone and maybe some wax or polish and the tank really stands out.I put some chrome flames decals instead.
Imagine if the dealers offered emblems or no emblems? That would be great!

If you use a scraper ya want to be on the emblem side and away from the paint on the tank..ouch

Using fishing line or dental floss and a sawing motion with heat from a hair dryer... you can get on the tank side of the double sided tape with out harming the paint and no danger of bending the emblem..and most of the double sided tape comes off with the emblem the cleanup is so much easier with goo gone if the double side tape does not stay on the tank...

then ya can peel the tape of the emblem for use later..with new auto moulding tape...

Also, be judicious with the heat. I was using the hair dryer on the rear fender to lift that horrid Yamaha decal, and ended up with a haze to the clear coat. It's probably not noticeable to anyone else, but I can see it, and I'm not real happy about it, but that's the way it goes, I guess.

Good caveat..although removal of advertising decals on the sides of vehicles ..the standard procedure is to use heat..but watch out ..dont torch the paint...

Warm day and fishing line then just a little elbow grease to remove residue. No damage to paint.
