31 tooth pulley and lowered bike 3 Months, 1 Week ago
I am looking at installing a 31 tooth pulley on my 00rstar. I have done the flip on the rear and was wondering if there would be issues bottoming out. I ride 2up and will be using stock belt, has anyone had problems with this setup?? being as the tire is further back closer to the fender?

I have a 31T on my 2003, it is also lowered using the "flip".
I don't have issues with bottoming out, but I do drag the floorboards regularly. I don't think that is a problem as I know now to expect it. I am about 225lbs and I don't ride 2-up very often.

How much room do you have from the rear tire to the fender?

I have a 31T pulley, love the response, I'm also lowered but probably not as much as you, I drag my HK big straights regularly...

Mine is lowered and I hate it! I am 266lbs and when the wife and I ride she is 124lbs we bottom out regularly shock is cranked as tight as she will go, also the frame and floorboards drags when I lay it in the turns as does my 2 into 1 pipe. I love riding twisties and a lowered bike doesn't seem to like them as much as I do. I will be raising mine back up when I get the gumption up to do it. LOL

Good luck with it!

Don't know, never measured. For me, I love the lowered look. I have only ever dragged the floorboards not the frame or the pipes. If I was dragging them that might make me think twice about it. Again I don't ride 2-up very often.

Mine is lowered and at 270 lbs, I seldom bottom out solo. We often bottom out two up, but its still better than a rigid. Buttbuffer pads really help. I just look out for the potholes better when she is up. I love draggin floorboards. Do it deliberately whenever possible, especially when ridin with my HD friends. Scares them to death.

WOW I'm not lowered with a progressive spring and 31 tooth pulley. I scrape my boards, frame and every once in a while my pipes I guess I really should add a sports bike to my garage

The secret to it is that you up the rev limiter, that way you don't loose top end, actually, I think in may be a bit faster on top end, but I really couldn't tell you, as I chicken out at about 100 mph..
