Ultima Big Growl Exhaust? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Was just looking around on ebay and found a set of Ultima Big Growl Exhaust. They are dirt cheap, which I take to mean they are not that good. $135.00. Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with this exhaust system

Do they make them for the R*. Thought they were for HD only. They are cheap. Perhaps check out a HD forum if you get no feedback from here.

They got em posted on ebay for the roadstar in 4 styles. And they state these are not $500 dollor pipes so do not expect them to be.

you could try them and tell us what you think. Not talking a big investment. It looks like you can get heat shields for them. DO IT!!!

My HKs I got for about $220 a few years back on Dennis Kirks Scratch and Dent (had a 1/2" scratch, though you couldn't notice unless you knew where to look). I've had the pipes for about 4 years and they cracked (I'm not the only one with this problem). Anyway, this exhaust is normally around $600 and is cracked so even the expensive ones can have problems.

In other words... you get what you pay for.

My pipes were not cracked until about 4 months ago and I've had them for about 4 years. The scratch in the pipes was up by the engine, the crack is by the passenger floorboards. Unrelated. Got a great deal on those pipes. There's another member here on the RSC that has this problem with them cracking. He turned his into shorties.

I agree; generally you get what you pay for. Sometimes you can find a bargain and other times things aren't worth what you paid for them either. We all know this.

Re:Ultima Big Growl Exhaust? 3 Months ago
this is my first post here ,I have big growl pipes on my roadstar,I bought them off of e-bay ,I would guess from the same people you are looking at,it was about the same price,I figured for that price they were worth a try,,,best fitting after market pipes I ever installed, bolted right up,,sound great but a little on the extreme loud side, chrome was good,a few blemishes but nothing you would see unless you looked hard to find them, remember these are a single wall pipe so they will turn color, mine turned a golden color up close to the motor but on my black bike it looks good, they come with NO heat shields, you can buy them seperate if you want but honestly these run much cooler than my stock pipes did so I decided I did not want them,,,had to jet up to a 68.might could have used a 70 or 72 but I already had a 68 and it runs fine,,,hope this helps,I will try to post some pics later

Re:Ultima Big Growl Exhaust? 3 Months ago
Thanks for the input. I have already purchased my 4th aftermarket exhaust. I went with the Hard Krome Double D's. The local dealership said they were discontinued. He said that if I had purchased them from somewhere else, and he showed a cataloge to me, that they were $700. I bought them for $400. Sound great and I do not have to remove the exhaust to change the transfer case oil either. They look exactly like the hard krome k-2's. I am satisfied with them. Think I need to rejet. Bike smells like it is running rich. Can anyone give me an idea of how much that would cost to have done?

Thanks,
Michael
