I dont think you were brand bashing as I had the same problm with a Harley dealer here they acted like I was not there lots of flashy jewelry type folks were there and I was in my usual saturday jeans t shirt and tennis shoes was gonna pay cash... ....went straight to the Yammy dealer and Bought a Roadie...Coug

I go into the Harley dealers and they won't even walk over and say "HI, can I take your money?"

I got the same reception at the Yamaha dealer, I don't think it's brand specific. (No, I didn't buy my R* at that dealership.)

I thought it was just me...

I am going to take you up on that and see if I can find a dealer that will let me rent one. I'm serious, I want to know what they ride like. Every one on here seems to have such an option on them and I have never been on one.
I would just like to know what all the fuss is about.
Howie

You can go to their website and put in your zip code and it will tell you where you can rent one....Coug

I'm going to do that! I want to ride a Venture also. I kind of like them, they don't seem to be selling so well around here for some reason, dealer down the way has two 07's still. Makes me wonder about those....

You don't have to spend any money on renting. Like it's been said. Hit up a demo day. The one nearby in Long Branch, NJ has it every Saturday. I lined up three bikes to try with the 100% intention of buying none of them. They don't care. It gets them out of the shop for a while also. They typically find a decent ride through some local roads and possibly some highway for a short while.

Heck sometimes they even throw in a free T-shirt.

I have a few more I want to try just because they let you.

Makes me wonder about those.... Same deal as the roadie, there are still alot of 06 and 07 of those around at dealers too. The venture is very top heavy. rides great, but a bike running around town. they have to do something with the cassette decks too. time to get rid of them. but the bikes run great!

I got done early in Lincoln NB and rented an HD for the evening a month ago. I rode all over town. Nice people to deal with. I have had dealers go both ways on me. Some want your business, some think its doing you a favor, and that goes for all makes. Not just HD.

The dealership I have dealt with for years doesn't allow test rides on showroom bikes either. They will typically have a "demo" model or a used one in stock that you can try out. The bikes on the floor don't typically even have batteries on them yet. The plus side of that is when I picked up my R* it only had the 1 mile or so that the service manager put on it during the post-prep test ride before handing me my keys. Look around at other dealers and see if they might have used model you can test out. I doubt you'd get it for very long but it might give you an idea of what you're missing (or not missing)

I'm sorry. When I posted I meant it as we all need more money. There was supposed to be a laughing smiley at the end but it didn't show up or I missed when I clicked on it. Anywho. Didn't mean it the way it looked.

I've heard some dealers pay their salesman hourly instead of commission, if that's true, that could be why you get the cold shoulder

I would like to take the extra 10k and sink it in in my roadie or maybe even buy another one
