Get the Yamaha! I had an 06 HD electraglide classic it was a sweet looking bike but stayed in the HD shop more then it stayed with me the first 6 months of it's life. I had to spend a lot of money out of my pocket to get it fixed right. I sold it after a year and a half and lost about eight thousand dollars and it was in showroom condition when it was sold. I now own a R* and can say I had my HD in my life LOL...... I could buy almost 3 R*'s for what I spent on the one HD. Get the one that makes you happy and fits you best though or you will regret it and the HD will loose a whole bunch of value when you leave the lot with it compared to the Yamaha if your not happy and want to sell it.

I have the Raodstar and love it.
I get plenty of looks and complaments on my big bike which i like, but who doesn't like to talk about you big not many of the people that i know

OH i plan on making pics and videos.......gonna prolly purchase the bike on the 9th of this month,then figure 2 weeks for all the extra goodies,pipes,floorboards,ULTIMATE SEAT,unno random stuff,then it will begin...then end cause of the cold,lol

I have a first gear suit and a full face helmet, I live in Pittsburgh and I ride till it snows, then I sit at the window and stare out like a lost pup till the roads thaw out again...

I think Road Kings and Road Stars appeal to the same audience... that was certainly the case with me. I bought my Road STAR because...

1. It seemed to be "more bike" than the Harley;
2. At just under $10K brand new, was certainly the better deal;
3. I've been a Yamaha fan for many years.

It's hard to find a bad Yamaha product, and I've got a lot of 'em... got a Grizzly 660 ATV, a P250 electric piano, a home theater receiver, some recording gear, an older Virago 750 bike... and even a Yamaha tennis racquet!

Dan, If you get the chance, ride em both. I think you go with the *. JMO

Too funny. Had the same problem with the Harley dealer in our area. They also sell Yahama bikes but as soon as you make a right hand turn (away from the Harley section and towards the Yamaha bikes) you are dead to the sales staff. Bothered me enough to solidify my decision to buy a R*---from a different dealer!

I ride a 2003 Road Star Silverado and my best friend rides a 1999 Road King Classic. We switch bikes quite often. Here is the truth...


1. The Harley is a little bit smaller. You have a tiny bit less room. Not a big deal if you are not tall.

2. Both are excellent bikes and ride and feel very similar. The Harley has probably a smoother drive train, but just a bit.

3. I'll be honest, as pretty as mine is, the Harley is a little bit prettier, especially the engine area. It just is, that's all. Not a big difference or deal.

4. The Yamaha is a little quicker stock than the Harley.

5. Why did I choose my Yamaha. I got a couple year old use with next to no miles for under 8K. The same type of Harley would go for around 15K.

6. The Yamaha is one heck of a lot of bike for the money. If you love the pureness of a classic looking american v-twin, and want to keep it under 10K, buy they Yamaha. If money is not object, then buy which ever one is the sexiest to YOU. The one you keep going into the garage to look at!!!

7. Most important of all...someone earlier said it best when they said that whichever one you choose, you will love the most. Simply put, you will love whichever one you buy and never regret it...unless you have problems with it just like being married. By the way, my friend and I never have problems with either of our bikes
