Cheap foreign made........ 3 Months ago
A couple of years ago I started noticing a fellow riding an old 750 Honda stopping every week at the diner across the street from my place of employment. Liking all bikes I asked him the year and he told me 1974. Says it's been 100% dependable since he bought it new. Well this morning I saw him crouched down behind it with the seat up and another fellow bending over looking over his shoulder so I walked over just to be nosy and he said that as he was pulling into the diner it just quit. No lights. No starter. Nothing. The only other time in all 34 years he's had it that he was dead on the road was when he ran out of gas. His fault I asked him where his fuses were but as he never had a problem before, he didn't know. Wiping some dust off we foun it and sure enough the main fuse had cracked glass. From vibration we figured as the spare fuse worked. In loud mock disgust I said "cheap Japanese junk. 34 years and already it's giving you trouble". We had a good chuckle and off he whent.

I'm the same way. I like all bikes and I just like to meet and talk to everyone on a bike just to get a closer look at their scoot!

Re:Cheap foreign made........ 3 Months ago
My first street bike , a 1978 CB750K , which I bought out of a barn , and resurrected back to life, did the same thing once. Only difference was I worked the 4 AM to noon shift for Johnson & Johnson , and I was on the way to work. So at 3:30 AM , I'm on the side of the road making a repair. I had made my self familiar with the bike (VERY) , and knew that No lights, no power , no nothing ....meant main fuse. Switched it out , and back on my way I went.....wasn't even late for work. BB

Classic

Had similar problems with a 1980 Yami XS850 Special (a 3 cylinder no less).... too many trouble free miles.
