How do you know it is overheating? 3 Months ago
I have a Road Star 1700 Silverado. How do I know if it is overheating? Since there is no temperature gauge.

Thanks.

Unless you are riding real slow in a parade in hot weather or stuck in a major traffic jam in the same weather there isn't much chance of it happening.

...or if your bike was messed up from the factory and then the problem was compounded by the dealer. Like droping your oil level and leaning it out to cure svs.

To expand on what Musky said...I was riding on the Interstate in 95deg. temp. and got off and rode into town into major traffic.(Sturgis )We were moving at a snails pace and my bike acted like it was in gear even when the clutch was engaged. Not much but it kept wanting to roll. I parked it and it ran fine when she cooled down. It has never done it since.

check the radiator

There's no cooling system on the R* other than "air" to my knowledge. I've had the bike overheat when stuck in traffic and it gets bloody hot here. Sometimes ride in heat that is 115+ degrees. Imagine that and sitting in traffic I usually pull over to let it cool a bit. If its real hot and I turn her off; she doesn't want to restart.
