Law in my openion it is the dealer not Yamaha. From my experance the dealers couldn't fix squat. I had to do it all myself and the warrany be one or five years is a joke if you can't get a dealer to do what he should. I fixed all my problems myself and always will from now on. I fought SVS for 8000 miles. In my openion SVS is caused by bad jetting or too high an oil level. I have over 20000 on mine now and it runs great and has no SVS. Wish you were closer I'm sure we could beat the problem.

Re:Yamaha customer service 3 Months ago
I will chime in on this one. I called the 800 number for Yamaha and got some one out in Calif I think, by the time we were half done with the conversation I wanted to kill him, I really wanted to reach through the phone and chock the living S*(& out of him.
ALl he would say was that Speed Star products were for closed track only and wouldn't tell me the answer to my question,
I didn't have access to the all knowing Clinic then...

hardone 2 get, nice bike, looks awesome! I hate to come off as a hate monger but I have been through the ringer over this thing. A year watching everyone else ride and still making payments, and I have to keep up the insurance and tax bill!! I always look to see if it's a rodie when I'm driving in my car. Great bike for the money but the business end is not what I expected. Yamaha could have given me a new motor when this all started and all would have been great. Now I have a lawyer and I'm not giving up. Ride safe and injoy what you have. Oh p.s. Pop rivet, nothing mechanical is bullet proof and I did expect more than the 2500 miles I got before problems came about.

Its just an expression...

Re:Yamaha customer service 3 Months ago
I knew I was in trouble the first call to Yamaha. The customer service rep "Mark" gave me his extension and told me to call him direct when I needed to "vent". I guess he knew from the start that this whole process was going to be a joke. One day I got a call from a rep named Bryan about a certified letter I sent to them about my problem. I asked him if they do assisted trades because it was obvious they could not fix the problem. Bryan told me yes they do. I told him I had been dealing with Mark and he transfered me to him saying there was no sense in two of them working on my case. I asked Mark about the assisted trade and he said "whats that?" "We don't do that." I told him Bryan said they did and if there was something Bryan could help me with that he could not mabye I needed to talk with him. Mark put me on hold and came back and said we do assisted trades but its for people having problem after problem. what? what the hell do you think I have been going through? Here's the kicker. I asked If they could extend my warranty since the engine rebuild took place after the warranty expired. He would only give me four months and the bike was going up for the winter.(last winter) I don't even think he did it because I never got documentation and there was the issue of warranty period time frame when I filed a suit.

The reality is I don't want to have to PAY to fix what Yamaha is responsible for. They expect me to do like most of the others with unresolved svs....sell it to someone else to get out from under it. I can't do that to someone and I would be pissed if someone did it to me! Someone has to make a stand sometime and it might as well be me. thanks
