Weir, Big Bear and I actually agree on something....lol. I have the exact same helmet, I wear it and the airfoil goggles with em, I have ridden across the country with em. Feel good, don't swelter in them.
Now in the winter I have a full face,
I switch back and forth between a 3/4 with a tinted visor and the full face in winter with a balaclava so I get the full range of weather.
I will not ride in the snow, that's the only time I won't ride.

I'm pleading the 5th on this one.

But, being a Union Carpenter, I have a drill you can borrow if it'll help ventilate your helmet.

Can ya do it while I'm wearin' it? I'm in kind of a hurry IMTopGun1.

Re:Best Helmets 3 Months ago
Because it's the law where I reside to wear a helmet, 90% of the time I wear a Smokey Novelty helmet completely engulfed by stickers (including a blk w/wht lettered DOT sticker) - I actually have about 4 of these (stickered, plain, leather covered and w/actual Eagle wings - the exact same ones worn on the field by my football team). I have the Maltese Cross DOT 1/2 helmet with state required 1 X 3" reflective tape on the sides and back for the other 10% and for state inspection purposes every other year (just like the removable baffles in my exhaust). Then there's the shielded 3/4 with the Eagle wings strictly for dead of winter riding (w/o the snow of course). My better half wears the DOT Rose helmet from LeatherUP.com. (The one w/ the unprintable words on the back.)(none w/visors of course)

Here's some sample pics:

And for BigBear: Thanx for the info on your helmet. There's a club out on Long Island that wears that type of helmet ... just that they wear it backwards!

I used to live in phoenix and rode my bike to and from work daily down the 10. i'd suggest full face DOT helmet to block the heat. i rode in shorts, pants, jacket, short sleeves, helmet, no helmet, and honestly the more you wear the cooler you are UNLESS you are stopped in traffic. my legs paid a price when i wore shorts due to the heat reflection off the asphalt.

buy a cheapo helmet ~100 (KBC, THH) full face and try it out. if you dont like it, sell it on craigslist for close to what you paid. the benefit of a full face helmet is also a great bug deflector.

by the way, i think the DOT helmets are cooler than the novelty helmets due to the added insulation.

I've found wearing a doo rag under my helmet keeps me much cooler.
The doo rag also keeps the liner from getting so wet with sweat.

I wear a THH shorty helmet with this http://www.headsweats.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=53&idproduct=95 underneath. The helmet has two small holes in the front but they don't really vent all that well. The liner soaks up the sweat and I think help keep my head a little cooler.
