#114580 tommyt (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 92 Bike too Low 3 Months ago   My 04 Roadstar Silverado is much too low..... looks great... rides great... just bottoms out when riding double.... sometimes single. Local Dealer said all looked stock underneath and I needed new Shock $535.00 did not help. Have only 3.5" of ground clearance. Did you crank up the preload on the rear spring? I am about 175 wet... my Wife ia abour 115 lbs..... would making the spring stiffer not make it ride ruff? You can easily check if the bike is lowered by looking at the profile. At stock height the backbone and the swing arm line up in a straight line. If it's lowered, the swing arm and backbone are a shallow V shape ... in other words the back of the swing arm is higher than the straight line drawn throught the backbone.
