Yes a 450 four stroke is a slightly faster than a 250 two stroke but put a 250 two stroke vs. a 250 4 stroke and there is a big difference. Or a CR 500 vs. CRF 450 Same displacement two stroke wins everytime.

OK here is an update on his CR80R the boy has fallin in love with the bike, I took a few pics today of him playing on it and the neighbor boy riding the DRZ125 the neighbor kid finaly talked his mom and dad into letting him ride a motorcycle he is 14 and never riden one. I showed him how to work the clutch and told him to just ride and get use to it then shift some gears it has had a sprocket change for my son to cut up on it with so he could stay in 3rd for the most part...... he went around 1 time and had a big smile on his face under that helmet. Here are some pics the neighbor is on the yellow Suz and my knothead is on the Honda.

He tells everyone on his myspace about how lucky he is. That is what makes me not mind doing things for him not to mention it is a great tool to make them want to do great in school now LOL.

4stroke and 2stroke have different classes. 250-2stroke = 450-4stroke, 125-2stroke = 250-4stroke. i believe a CR80 is about equal to a 125 4stroke if they even make them. displacement doesnt really matter much. of course a CR500 is faster than a CR450F, but a CR450F is equal to a CR250.

2stroke ruled motox for years due to lighter bikes, quick power. 4strokes have lightened up majorly in the past 5-10 years and are now preferred over 2 strokes due to torque.

sold my CR250 about 2 years ago because I couldnt keep up with 4strokes and decided to invest all my time in my street bikes.

My brother gave me - yes, GAVE me! - an RM-80 (he was going to give me a CR-125, but changed his mind) a long time ago. Anyway, that was one FAST little bike! I forget what year it was, but it was the year before they came out with the "full floater" rear suspension. My size (I was 20-something years old) and the short suspension made it absolutely scary!! It was sure fun for a scream down a dirt road, though!!

Glad to see you went with the CR. Your son definitely looks like he knows how to handle a bike!! Congrats to him!!
