Call your insurance co. and price quote a GSXR1000. They bill us accordingly. I know guys paying more for their insurance yearly than they are for their bike payments. Our sport bike counterparts don't get the breaks we get......trust me. The gen. public might not be able to tell a Harley from a Hayabusa , but the insurance co. can. BB

Yes , I know a Hayabusa is a GSXR1300 .

True enough BB, however I feel that particular kind of scrutiny has been in place since I was a wee lad.... cars and teenagers for example; Corvette vs a ford falcon.

It is especially troubling now because the helmet issue; we don't need anyone making waves that finally cause the powers to be to have to put something on the books because of continued public outcry.

LC , I agree with you. Stupidity is Stupidity......plain and simple. I know only a Handfull of safe sport bike riders , I know a lot of safe everything else riders. We have a helmet law here , so I never even think of it as an option. But I have ridden where it's not required.....nice for short trips. Not stirring the pot , just making an observation. BB

Trust me, speaking to them at a rest stop don't do squat other than get you eyed up as someone who is relegated to a "slower" bike. If they live that long they end up on our types of bikes. Like some MC clubs not all sport bike riders tend to act as the generality implies. It's just the knotheads who persist in testosterone highs who the public remembers.

I ride fairly regularly with a meetup group here in Atlanta. Nothing in common to bring us together (bike style, brand, gender, age) other than just we like to ride. We've got all sorts of folks and bikes who ride with us. The bikes run the gambit all the way from scooters to full dress HD, Goldwing and insanely expensive BMW bikes. Oddly, I’m the only R*….HHmmmm??

There's a new guy who has joined online and his profile pic (included here) is a sport bike doing a wheelie down an interstate. Now, I've not met this guy, but if his profile pic is representative of his riding style, either he'll be gone or I will not ride with him. All the facts aren't in yet, but the pic already has me prejudiced against him.

I think there is a time and a place for whatever type of riding you want to do, just like street racing you can go to the track where its safe. Fifty Yet

I would have to say I know a lot of safe sport bike riders.
Thats because I ride with sport bike riders, a lot of sport bike riders. Believe me it not the majority of them riding like idiots, they just stand out more. Who pays notice to the sport bike rider who is doing the speed limit? See a sport bike rider acting like a idiot and suddenly we're all that way.

Re:Im sorry but ......................... 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I was caught in a traffic jam last summer and after white lining to see what the holdup was, lo and behold, about a dozen crotch rockets doing wheelies tying up all three lanes. I just hit the air horn a few times and proceeded to weave my way between them as they were standing on their rear wheels. The looks on their faces were priceless. Probably the only time I'll ever get to pass them.

In all seriousness, it's a shame that some laws are made to protect a select few (insert adjective of choice here) from hurting themselves - kinda like Gary Busey securing the helmet laws in CA almost single handedly. Unfortunately, a bucketful of dirty water makes the whole barrel full of dirty water. Those laws can't fix stupid.
