I have a niece that is 11 years old. I wouldn't take her on the bike no matter what. But, I've taken other kids on the bike at the age of 6+ without any problem. Just like they've said before, it depends on the kid. I think that if you have to question it, the answer would have to be NO. IMHO

I have one of These. My 5 year old loved it. The skills of riding that she has learned with the harness, has made it so that she now knows how to sit, hold on etc. I usually don't use it anymore for her when I am on the wife's bike, (sissy bar) but will use it with her on mine. I take the 3 year old out with the harness still, she loves it, I don't think that a child is too young as long they understand what they need to do.
  • We also have protective gear that we have them wear. It is the same stuff that the Navy requires me to wear to ride: long sleeves, long pants, over the ankle shoes,DOT approved helmet, full fingured gloves, reflective at night. We got the 5 year old a pink leather jacket for her 4th birthday...They are so cute riding with us...Kindergarten on a motorcycle, she is definately the coolest kid in her class.

My best friend , who was a widower(?) , had a 4 and 6 year old when he lost his Wife. We carried those kids everywhere on our bikes. Great memories. I typically carried his daughter , the six year old , and I left him with his 4 year old rug rat boy. If you are comfortable with them , and they are smart enough to obey your leadership............
