Floor boards or Fowards? 3 Years, 8 Months ago
I know I have mentioned in the past that I might get rid of my foward contols, and after a long ride yesterday I think I might be ready. I have long arms like a baboon but my legs are not the stretch they should be for comfort. I am thinking beach boards or just a nice set of chrome running boards. I am willing to make a full or partial trade if anyone has a nice set of floorboards complete they wish to part with. I considered putting them on the chopper but it would take the ole school look away from it. Pic blow of the fowards on the bike now, I purchased them from PhatPerformance about 2 seasons ago. They have the resavoir attached on brake side.

What year is your bike and can u get me a pic? I have stock ones in my garage with chrome covers on them now but I'm not too crazy about them. Kinda hoping for something a little differant..maybe i should shop them and just list the fowards here for sale. Show me what you have.

I would be very interested in the forwards if you sell. I have stock ones on now, but would love to get some forward controls if the price is right. Let me know, and put me first in line if that is the way you decide to go. How much could you let them go for?
Thanks
Jim

I attached pilot pegs to the front of my floorborads. They work very well. Can do a quick "How I did it " if any one is interested

Does anyone have a close up picture of the forward controls. I was thinking of replacing my floorboards with forwards. I'm fairly short (5'4" and thought they'd be a good set up for me as I've lowered my ride and have trouble with floorboards scraping around corners and roundabouts. Our local council seems to have a fetish with roundabouts at the moment.

Does anyone else agree with my take on the forwards being a good alternative?

Emu says...it's cool to lean into those corners!

IowaRoadie

Is that a chromed or painted rear frame you have there?

I'm 5'10" and I have to stretch a bit to rest comfortable on mine. When I wear my boots they fit fine but in any shoe without a heel they feel out of place. My swingarm is chromed,,one of the first things I did when I purchased the bike.

Hey thanks Mech, perhaps I should look to see if mod is practical to suit my short legs or otherwise reconsider before forking out $$$

For those short of stature if you really want FC's you can still have them.

What you need to do is fabricate an adaptor between the frame and the FC to move the FC back a bit.

I did it once to move my FC more forward as the normal FC to frame mount did not put my feet in the position I wanted.

In either case you need to buy or fabricate another shift arm.
