#12056 06MidnightStar (User) Gold Boarder Posts: 768 Air Cleaner Options for 1700 Road* 5 Years, 6 Months ago   Roadies: What aftermarket air cleaner options, for a 1700 Road*, will mount closer to the engine than the stock setup? If anyone is using a Yamaha Speedstar Competition Air Cleaner on the stock backplate, do you have close-up pix of your setup? Thanks. I just installed the Barons Air Kit (BAK) and found that it protruded less by at least 1 inch perhaps more. My leg no longer rests against the air box. The BAK is high quality and easy to install. As you have probably gathered from this site if you change the air intake, you need to jet the carb.   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access. #12058 06MidnightStar (User) Gold Boarder Posts: 768 Re:Air Cleaner Options for 1700 Road* 5 Years, 6 Months ago   CruiserBob: I was hoping that there was a reasonable option which wouldn't show so much of the filter element as the BAK, when installed. Plus, I've heard RSR forum members complain about oil dripping onto their pipes and shabby filter cover construction, when using the Baron's BAK. If I can't find another filter kit, then I'd consider the Poor Man's BAK for those very reasons.
