mini apes, monkey see monkey do 2 Months ago  
thinking about putting mini apes on, 10" or 12", since i got the new seat with the backrest it would allow me to lean back a ltiile more i think, just want some oppinionz from the gallery, do i have to change cables or brake lines, can an idiot install them? what size bars do we need? any discussion on the matteer will be appreciated. thanks musky kc

Cartersta - click on the FORUM tab above, and check out the BOLT ONS folder and there are several strings on apes, that you'll probably get a BUNCH of your questions answered. Not that I'm running you off , but I have 16" on, and went +12" on the cables. I recall many a discussions on the mini's though. some folks didn't have to swap cables even.

last week in texas i saw a bike with apes so high he had to reach up to them don't know how he did it without being pulled over all the time they had to be 20inch

Had 16s on mine and the brake line was all that needed to be replaced but I should have gotten new throttle and clutch cables. No matter, they're gone anyway.

I just put a set of 12" miniapes on and i just had to reroute the clutch cable and get a longer front brake cable...everything else fit. throttle and idle cable were a bit tight but all works. If u want to run the wiring internally u will have to lengthen them tho. as far as sitting back its WAY better, i love them. and they look freakin sweet.

Ride down to Faunsdale Bike Rally the first weekend of October and I'll let you test ride my bike with 12" bars,,,,,,,Like others said, I just replaced the brake line and rerouted everything else to fit. I love my bars.
