Pinstripe removal 5 Years, 6 Months ago
As I was hanging out in Tinkerville yesterday, deep in the recesses of my garage, I decided I hate the factory pinstriping on the tank. Is pure acetone overkill as far as removal of the pintripe tape--will it hurt the paint? Should I go with a milder product like Goo Gone?

Thanks,

RK

NORMALLY .... the pinstripe is under the clearcoat. I that case you have to sand it off to remove it.

I have not seen your tank but I'm sure that if it's the factory job then it's under the clear.

The pinstripe is added for the ladies that usually buy the white bikes, a couple cans of black spray paint will cover all that white right up.

As long as there's no clear coat over the pinstripe, heating and peeling them off would be the easiest. Followed by some goof off to cleanup the leftover sticky stuff.

Yeah, what Doc said!

Post edited by: RoadieFF, at: 2006/11/26 11:53

Well, I'd be remiss if I didn't jump in to my and Musky's defense, along with all the other white Roadie owners...

You saying there's something wrong with women being attracted to our white bikes, hmmm?

See. This is what I was talking about. Jealousy and denial. You can't help but feel sympathetic for them.

So how ya doing there Roadie? Sounds like you're in fine spirits. That's good. Ever notice the Karma buttons? There's a minus button there too.

I'll bet that underneath Roadie's black paint there is the original white paint and he really regretted doing it!. Hmmmm, only one way to be sure... has anyone ever rode with Roadie to see if that balck bike is as fast as the white bikes?
