Both of these guys as you are aware got HD Ultra Classics recently. Not thinking of going that route, but going to the other side of the bagger spectrum.
Got my eye on a low mileage (around 5K miles) 5 year old Gold Wing GL1800 that I'm considering. Lots of extras and the price is right. Most of the goodies I would do too.
Whatcha think?

I think Javawave said he would consider it, but had not actually done it. Maybe he will pop in here and clear things up.
The clinic has always been a place for riders to congregate, as opposed to seperate and eliminate. The Goldwing is a fabulous bike with a huge following of very happy riders. As always, the primary rule around here is to ride what you like and like what you ride. I would suggest seeing if you can get your hands on one for a test ride to see if you like it. If your motive is enjoying the journey I suspect that you will like it a lot. I used to own one and I loved it.
I found I like cruisers better and they fit my riding style better, but that is not a dis on the Goldwing. I still think its a great bike. If you like going two up and covering large distances there just isn't a better way to get there.

Gram, see http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,122846/catid,61/.
Unless he's pulling my leg, he sold his Ultra Star. Didn't sound like he was. I don't understand why he invested all that time and money in converting his R* into a bagger if he was going to get rid of it.
I'm planning on keeping the R*. Just trying to decide whether I want to drop the cash on another bike. Odd, the bike I'm looking at is a 5 year old touring bike with @ 1,000 miles/year.

Looks like your right SlyGuy, I missed that post.
Looks like he got a nice one. He's going to really enjoy that bike
I am sure others will chime in. I have always liked having more than one bike. Its a luxery few could afford in cars, but a lot can afford in bikes. Some days its country music, some its rock and roll. Same thing in my opinion.
And I still think the wing is awesome Try to beat one on any twisties on a R *. Won't happen

Wings are nice if you like the style. A lot of folks don't realize just how fast they are, they'll blow away ANY cruiser/tourer and hold there own against many crotch rockets.

I was always impressed with the wing. I don't think I would want one for a daily driver, but long distance...look out!

Yes I have an Ultra Classic, and Yes I looked at the Goldwings. I love the wings, one of the best bikes out there. Gram is right, those things are rocket ships and ride quality is fantastic.
Why did I spend money on my bike if I was going to sell her? Alot of the fun for me is the "dressing" up of a bike. I love to ride, can't get enough of it. But I love to tinker also and make it mine. The Star was done. Time to start on something else. I would miss tinkering and learning about my bike as much as I would miss riding. I actually sold it by accident. Really, I just put it out there to get feelers for what it was worth and before I could whoa there big fella, It was gone. Speaks well for the Roadie. I will get another one and it will be a single seater. If this last quarter this year holds up and doesnt drop to much, it will probably be before spring so I can start tinkering with it too.

I'd like to have a few more in the stable too, but my big problem is the insurance.. It's a rip off, you can't ride more than one at a time..Ive always felt that the insurance should be on the person, not the vehicle...
