Has anyone taken off their fork tins and had them chromed? If so, roughly how much did you have to spend to have it done? And how hard was it to take them off?

Beef,
The sales guy who sold me my bike had his fork tins chromed (and they looked awsome). I was asking him about it because I'd like to consider the same thing. Apparently the local dealer (Colorado Powersports) has a couple of places they send stuff out to. He mentioned that it costed about $300 ($150 per side). He had some other pieces chromed and a Yamaha service guy take the bike apart so he had no idea about the effort involved to take the front apart. Sure some of the other guys on the Clinic could give you an idea. One thing that he did say was to be careful about where you have things done. Probably a good idea to find someone who has done bike parts or chrome for show cars/bikes. I will probably look harder at this around spring time so will be curious to see what you end up doing. My brother-in-law builds show cars (won first place at the Las Vegas Super Chevy show!), I'll ask him if he is familiar with anyone else. Hope that helps some & good luck.

Maybe hit ebay or RSR and see if anyone has a midnight front end or Midnight silverado front end, or whatever the one is that has the shiney front end for sale cheap.

I'd be more help if I knew what the hell I was talking about wouldn't I?

If you're going to do the tins then you need to do the forks as it will look 'funny'.

Have you thought of polishing them. Polished stainless time look almost like chrome and it easier to re-do once they get scratched up.
