OK I've made up my mind, I'm going to paint the motor black. so I know im going to remove the motor from the frame and should I just take off the chrome and tape the openings up or tape over the chrome, or disassemble the whole motor, and what kinda of paint to use jsut normal black motor paint or wrinkle finish?

I seen it done with the motor intact but you have to be real careful in taping everything off.

Paint you use depends on the finish you want.

Make sure you prep it well (degrease) ... you don't want it flaking off next year.

Mate...I'm sure you already know, but make sure you use engine enamel. Like Doc says you don't want it peeling off...not a good look.

I painted mine a few years back. A must is to degrease the motor and tape every thing off, I used rust-oleum HIGH HEAT. It resists up to 1200 deg. Don't know any power plant thats runs that hot. I have'nt had any cracking, peeling or blistering at all. Plus it looks tough.

Hey Rocker..did you paint her black mate?

I guess painting also gives you the opportunity to clean up a few of the blemishes in the castings. One of my very few complaints about the quality of the Yami engine (mine's 1600).
