Tall Men & Risers??? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
|

Hello! I wanted to throw out a question to any of the tall riders on the site! I've had my Roadie for 6 months now, and I always find longer rides uncomfortable. And I do allot of them. For me, I think being tall makes me reach down for the bars to much. Also, seems like it would be better if I could lean back more. I am wondering what you taller guys may have for risers. IE, the height and pullback. I have the Silverado bars, which I believe have more pull back than the non silverado version. Also, anyone have a starbar with risers? That may be the route I go as I have tried a friends Starbar and they feel good, minus that they are a little low! Thanks!!

GJCARVING, I have the Baron's Kick Back risers and find that they have pretty much eliminated any shoulder pain. I still get a little at times on usually not until I am out about 300 to 400 miles fot the day, but not so bad I can't keep going. With the stock set up it was about 100 miles and by 300 I was ready to kill myself. I too have the Silverado and found the stock bars to be too low forcing me to reach out. The almost 2" rise and 1.75" back seemed to be nearly perfect for me.
Barons has written articles about handle bar positioning and this may be helpful if you can find the article. I think I saw it last in Cruiser Magazine about 9 months ago?? I am 6' tall with a 32" inseam so my legs are kind of short, and torso long. Don't know if that qualifies as tall, but maybe helpful.

GJ,I've got the star bar on mine and have thought about adding the risers also. I'm not as tall as the rest of the ball team here but still would like a little more comfort.

I have the Nostaliga bars and although they are lower than stock, they are very comfortable for me. Also feels like powersteering at lower speeds. I am about 6'1 too.

I'm in a different boat, I actually want the bars lower! But still pulled back some. I'm 5'10" and I'm stretching a bit, but I like the low look of beach bars.

I have an 03 Silverado with stock bars & risers and I love it just like it is. With all the different shapes & sizes of bars and differant risers; you should be able to put the grips any where you want them. I am 6-3.

Any of you have problems with the bars hitting your knees? I do in a tight radius turn! Also, thinking, if I go the route of new wider bars and risers I may have to get different cables!!
