Yep... I use a Battery Tender also.... No need to lift the seat, just add the pigtail to the battery and leave it hanging out from one corner of the seat. Just plug'er in and your all set.

Agree 100%. This is the best way and least hassle. It does sometimes work it's way out and hang. I use one during the winter months. 1 amp.

But yeah, sarcasm aside if ya ride em enough ya won't really need it.

Ride Safe.......

I am going to be away on "business" for about 3 months. Should I get a battery tender or go for just disconnecting the batt?

I'd use the battery tender for that amount of time - that's just my opinion though :|

I'd go with the battery tender. I ride often, and I still use one. Keeps the battery at top performance. jmo HEY! I just past 100 posts!!! Where's my beer!

I use a tender in the winter. I still have the original battery in my 04', took it to Autozone last week and had it checked. They said it still looked good, no need to think about another right now. Suprised me, I usually get 2, maybe 3 years out of a battery.

Also isn't there something that occurs when the battery power drops below a certain point that makes it go bad? Possibly in the charging system.

It sulfates, My gramps used to rebuild batteries. What I know that he told me, you should charge a battery with a charger at least once every two months. A batt tender is a great idea to use. And today they have all sorts of neat chargers that will desulfate and charges AGM Or Wet type Battery's. The Battery that comes in a Roady is a quality battery, I expect to get 5 years out of mine. Unless something electrical goes bad that I don't catch.

And don't forget to pick up a like plug that fits into the battery tenders Batt side plug, you can wire in a length of wire and a cig plug end and have a quick hook cell charger. MC
