Windsheild Cleaning 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
There must be a thread on this already but i couldn't find it using the search option and in the tech tips there are only two articles on different styles/add ons or cutting your sheild.

I made a silly mistake and tried out the McGuires windsheild/plastic polish that Wall mart offers and it added a haze to my sheild that I can not get rid of to save my life.

Does any one know of a post on the site that has already covered this and if so what's the title or link.

If not, what are your suggestions to cleaning and polishing the sheild?

Damp cloth/bug-cleaner sponge, followed up with a soft cloth and furniture polish.

(Since we're on the subject, has anyone tried Rain-X on the windshield? Is it okay to use?)

I'll try it. Like Pledge? I would only clean the sheild with water before and a soft sponge and thought the McGuires would maybe give it a little more brightness. Oops.

Yep. Just regular ol' Pledge. Works like a charm.

Also, how much buffeting and how cold is it if the windshield is removed completely?

I always use black-hawk motorcycle cleaner, it can be used on anything to include plastic and chrome and paint and rubber and leather. Wally World $3.97 in Motorcycle dept near auto dept.
The cleaner that hazed your plastic should not have, possibly it was the rag you used. I only trust microfiber cloths for cleaning a vehicle. I use the Black-hawk 2 or 3 times a day on my windshield and it's clear as a bell. And the product is 100% guaranteed. It does work. MC

The stock shield has a coating on it. Many cleaners or polishes will damage the coating. Once you do I don't know of anyway to fix it.

That's funny. I bought the Blackhawk cleaner and really liked it for everything else but I didn't even think to try it on the sheild. I used a brand new micro fiber cloth. I only used the McGuires on the upper portion of the curve but of course that's where I am looking through the most.

It is the stock sheild on the Silverado.
