AIS removal vs sound quality 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
Hello,
the winter is coming so probably I will start to play with my bike. I would like to remove the AIS from my ride but the question is: how it will influence the sound quality?
I have the LongShots HS on it and I don't experience any backfireing so that's not the reason to remove AIS. The reason will be clean look without all those cables hanging arroud the engine but if the sound quality will become worse, then I will keep the AIS on my bike. What's your experience with AIS removal vs sound quality?
Best regards from Europe.
Greg

i don't think it will degrade the sound...it injects a small amount of air into the exhaust so has nothing to do with combustion, maybe you can just unplug it and cap the ends temporarily so you can see what it will sound like

There is no change in sound quality. AIS injects air into the cylinder to improve emissions and that can cause popping on decel. Save the parts in case the regs change and you need to put it back on someday.

My sound quality actually improved when I disconnect the AIS. That little puff of air in both pipes added a kind of a "fluffing" sound, and when I took it out, the exhaust now sounds a bit more solid, with a little more "bass" to it. My wife noticed the difference too. I'm not saying this happens in every case, but my slash cuts definitely sound better.
