Glad you got all Tokyo drift on it Glad you're still up. Yeah, they chip seal around here too, I just wish they'd post it so I knew to ride a different route home. Tonight I caught the fresh stuff, so on top of riding through loose gravel and oil on the road, cars were kicking that crap up in my face and all over my baby. Frustrating. Then to top it off, street cleaning except they were flooding the streets. In a week where its supposed to be 20+ (C) and sunny all week. Ah well, roll with the punches.

Cowboys like us sure do have fun, racin the wind, chasin the sun. We\'ll take the long way around back to square one. Today we\'re just outlaws out on the run. There\'ll be no regrets, no worries and such, for cowboys like us.

In the old days, that would have cost you a "E" ticket ride at Disneyland

Glad you kept it upright

Good article here, from Jerry "Motorman" Palladino. (Good series of articles, actually)

Killed my Shadow in a parking lot gas station in Texas because of stuff like that. Brainless idea thought up by someone who doesn't ride.

Got off the interstate for fuel (110 degree's in TX) looked like a black asphalt parking lot. Rolled in at 30-35ish MPH.....and Boom. 2 fractured ribs and 5,500 dollars damage to the bike. And I still had 1,300 miles left to ride home. Hate the stuff. Steel plates , too , while we're on the subject. BB

ok, I understand the whole idea of resurfacing a road. No problem.

But who or what drove some one to cover the road with oil, then dump a million tons of gravel on it.
I don't even understand the basic underlying principle behind it. It completely sucks for cars and worse for bikes.

Yep, chip and seal on country roads... very popular here in Southern Indiana. They just patched spots of some roads in Brown County that were just wonderful for riding.

Once you notice it, you have to be very careful as you boggie along. It's always wise to think that there is a patch just around that next corner... because there has been - many times this past summer. One particularly troublesome spot was a rise with a slight turn just past the apex... that is no place to lose traction; making it worse, if that is possible, is that it was a right turn which would put a sliding bike right into oncoming traffic.
