Raised my bike 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Some of you will remember a couple weeks ago I put the relay arm on my 04 Roadstar back to the original position, because the Bike would bottom out and drag wen riding 2 up. Went on a long ride though the NC Mountains to Mt Mitchell today riding 2 up... Damn Bike rides so much better now I simply cannot understand why anyone would want to lower a Roadstar. My Bike will NOT bottom out now..... and the only time I drag anything is when I really lay into a curve and the floorboards might touch... and they are hinged.... bottm line... Honkin Bike rides GREAT now...... I am a Happy camper.....but...as they say... different stroke for different foke.

Awesome... I like Jerry "Motorman" Palladino's approach: Basically, he says that if your bike is too high, try cutting down the seat, first. Lowering the bike makes the rider apprehensive or unable to lean it, and sacrifices the handling. Good job. Congrats on lovin' your bike!

tommyt ...Glad to hear you achieved a good result with reversing the relay arm 'flip' mate. After installing the Barons lowering kit a couple of months back I noticed some detrimental effects including bottoming out and also the bike was a bit loose when cornering, overtaking, etc.

After installing the heavy duty spring last week I'm also very happy with the results I've achieved. This spring really compliments the lowering kit, i.e. 1) I've maintained some of the lowering; and 2) the bike is back to, or better, than original (no more bottoming out and better stability when cornering and overtaking).

I was thinking of the progressive suspension as my next option but feel that I no longer have to part with the extra $$$

I know what you mean, I actually lowered my rear fender and lowered my seat. I think if you lower the rear suspension too much it doesn't look good because the swingarm looks cocked up, I think the top tube of the swingarm should for the most part be inline with the backbone tube. But as you say to each their own.

I had the lowering kit and progressive spring and two uo I still bottomed and scraped the pipes/ I love my corners to much so I put it back to stock and left the progressive spring on. Now I am really happy with the corners. BUTTTTTTTTT I sure hate that spring nut a Yami's damn cheap wrench for it.

Couldn't agree more, stock height with new spring. My spring is the second best purchase I made on my bike.

31 tooth pully; in combination with the spring made the most difference in performance.

Boy, this topic post makes me think twice about lowering my motorcycle. I was thinking of doing that but after seeing these I believe I will let well enough alone.

I am going the lower the fender route on my latest bike. The one in my sig is lowered both front and rear. Its fun to drive, and I love the low center of gravity, but aggressive cornering can be a butt puckering experience at times. Plus, this ones going to setup for riding two up.

Thinking about using one of the adjustable length dog bone kits to get it right where I want it.
