I just felt it when I was cruising down the road not on
decel. My throttle is a bit sticky since I tightened up the cruise lock. It will actually stay on speed when I let go of the throttle for a bit. So technically this wobble was occurring while at cruising speed.
javawave, if in fact it is the bearing, what is the worst thing that could happen during my ride? Something catastrophic that would cause a wreck or just more damage to something? I'm getting some mixed feedback on the ride. Some say not to worry about it, and others say to get it fixed before the ride. Which of course I would do if I had the time and money to do so before thursday.
I have a strong feeling that my bike has been doing this for the past 2000 miles or so I have put on it since I bought it. I just found out about it yesterday because I decided to let go of the handlebar for a minute.
I was already planning on buying a lift for my bike sometime soon so i could start doing my own maintenance and inspections on my bike because I know from past experiences with dealerships that they will con you in a second. It's bad enough that the hourly labor rate is freaking 85 dollars! Unbelievable.
For example, I called in to ask if they could extract a broken bolt from my bike real quick since they have the tools and I didn't (and I just spent over $600 in there) and the freakin guy told me it would cost $85 because it would take an hour! And I would have to drop the bike off for a day or two because they were backed up
I couldn't believe it. So a buddy of mine used some vice grips and took the bolt off in 30 seconds.
Anyway, back to topic... I know that just getting the bike to the dealer to look at the problem and fix what they say the problem may be, will run me at least $500.
I figure I'm just going to enjoy the ride, buy a lift when I get back, and start doing some testing myself to see what the deal is.
