Stains on the Crankcase 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
On my new 07 RS I noticed some brown-ish stains on the crankcase, just below the carberator. The dealer said it was from the carb over-flowing when it floods. Has anyone else had this same issue and how do you clean it off?

The only thing that will clean it, is saliva. It all depends on just how devoted you are to your bike. Just kneel down and... lick it.

I'm kidding, of course. Hopefully, it will just wipe off. (If it's ON the crankcase and not embedded or permanently stained) If it's chrome, chrome polish might take it off. "Goo Gone" is something else you might try... Maybe going over it lightly with one of those Magic Erasers, if it's not chrome...

Good luck!

If it's just evaporated fuel maybe try some spray carb cleaner.

Thanks guys, all try all of the above. One of the problems is the metal is real rough wright there so you can't really rub it with a rag. The carb cleaner sounds like the first try. It's not really a problem, it just looks bad.

The wife's toothbrush always works well for scrubbing those rough surfaces.

Spray some HOG WASH at those brown-ish stains on the crankcase and watch them dissipate into thin air...

Yea, I have those from mine puking also.

This has given me new ways to try to get at it though so thanks for posting it.

I really like the toothbrush idea because it is in hard to get at spots.

Will try the Hog Wash also... Thanks.
