my bike seems to run good, no skipping or any kind of acting up, but my milage has gone from 30-40 to 30 -32, what give is it alcahol in the gas?, since the hurricane that caused the gas shortage my car is doing worse to, anybody got any ideas, my choke is hard to pull too, might try trimming it.

I have notice with the colder weather that I am loosing about 20 miles per tank keeping me in the 38-40 mpg, I am guessing more choke time warming up and some fuel changing to winter blend...

2006 RS Midnight Silverado with 2500 miles on it. New dealer carryover purchased in June, 2008. All stock with Yamaha full syn oil which I believe is 15-50. Will move over to Mobil 1 20-50 at next change. My mileage varies from 38 to 45 miles/gallon. Have gotten 49 mpg on one tank. I believe all 87 octane in MN is blended with 15% ethanol. I have been using 87.

I have checked my choke cable and it looks like it is bottoming out. I will do the choke cable fix and go from there. I went on a ride two up today and stopped at the video store and it was parked uphill. It did smell like it was flooding a little bit when I started it to leave. I will fix the choke cable and go from there I will keep you updated on the outcome.

I appreciate all the information I am getting here because I couldnt do it without this site.....

Time for some fresh plugs?.............it makes a difference. I tossed fresh ones in at 5,000 miles regardless. BB

I trimmed my choke cable. It was too long and I had to take a small washer size off of it to get a gap in it. I will take it out in the morning and see if that helped it. I probably need to get new plugs too that will be on my list next. Thanks for the help.

Since your low of 30 mpg has not dropped I would say perhaps your riding a little harder on the throttle if it was the gas then all the numbers should have dropped. However if you have been driving slower then it could be the gas.Cooler weather always knocks a few mph off mine and I reset my PMS .I know here in North Ga. they were dropping all the main storage tanks at the farms getting ready to swap over to the winter blend when the hurricane hit causing us to be short of gas for a few weeks while everyone panicked and topped of their tanks everyday and the refineries were down in Texas where our gas comes from causing lines higher prices etc. They are going to buy in a pipeline to Louisiana to make sure that wont happen again.Perhaps Alabama would like to share the pipe like we share the Chattahoochee As has been suggested above as it never hurts to look at your plugs as well ....Coug
