Problem: headlight keeps blowing fuses 5 Years, 5 Months ago
2007 RoadStar Silverado (came w/ stock lightbar)

I just purchased this in August. It has run great up until about a month ago (except inherent knock from the engine when hot, but that is another discussion in itself). About a month ago, I road the R* to work, all seemed ok until I was ready to go home. When I started my R8 the headlight (nor tail nor driving lights on the bar, break and turn - OK) did not come on and it was dark. I called my friend with a trailor and told him to hitch up in case I could not fix it (he was an hour away). I accessed the fuse box and found that the fuse had blown. I thought this unusual for a new vehicle but maybe a weak fuse. Replaced the fuse and road home without problems.

Now a month and a half later, I ride into work again ( I have made the trip several times since first incident), all is fine. I start the bike to go home, light works. On my way home I notice the headlight and associated lights are out. At least it was daylight. What is going on??

Both times I traveled the same route, both times I reached speeds around 80 mph. The route has several good shock compressing dip that sneak up on you. My thoughts are chafing. Anyone know where I should start? I am taking it to the dealer today but I wanted to ask the group for my own edification in case they don't find anything.

Merry Christmas to all and a safe and Happy New Year!!!

Intermittant problems are real tough to find.

It's obviously tied to the light circuit. One problem area that comes to mind on some bikes is due to the light bar. The wire inside the bar chafes and shorts out. You could check that.

Other wise

And a Merry Xmas to you and yours.
