AIS GONE!! 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Well guys I finally took the plunge today and removed the AIS on my 07. Keep in mind I have NEVER worked on a bike and I was completely scared to death to tear into it. Especially since I went all the way and removed the tank to access the top of the intake to cap that off. I Finished it but ran into another problem when I checked my plugs See my other thread for that issue. Also I didnt have any loctite but I tightened the livin heck out of em so hopefully they hold. I may end up going back to loctite those bolts anyway. Here's some pics:

oh, forgot to mention what I found when i removed the fuel tank. On top of the jugs was a piece of blue film. It looked like maybe it was on the chrome to protect it during assembly and should have been removed once the engine was assembled and in the frame. A giant piece of it was left on there by yamaha. It had melted to the top on the chrome. After about an hour of gently picking at it with a fingernail I got it off of there and used some mothers and s100 on it. I guess they got in a hurry that day or something. I didnt know what to think when I saw it.
